I always thought that Animal Kingdom was a tad underrated. There is a lot of good stuff there that isn't too zoo like. I have never had trouble keeping occupied there though I don't recall it making an impression on me at all when I went as a teenager.
Melissa was happy to plan our day out with us. She has developed a great fondness... nay.. obsession with maps. Fortunately today I actually could answer her questions to her satisfaction as I had planned the final day out a lot more than I had the previous days.. except for the last Sea World day.
We started with the Bug's Life 3D movie. This is the sort of thing Disney can't screw up. Though we were warned it could frighten children JC didn't have much trouble hiding his face and ignoring the whole thing. That is about as good as we could expect. From there we hit the safari ride which Mayette and I both remember being better but it was still pretty decent. At least the line was a lot shorter this time. We took the nature trail which was longer than I thought and mildly interesting. Finally we finished Africa off by taking the train to the petting zoo. This went over much better.
After that we stopped at Asia but the bird exhibit was closed. Making the best of it I took Melissa on the White Water Rapids, which was pretty fun and neither she nor mom freaked when he came back wet. Finally we eneded the day at Dinoland USA where there was a substantial playground for the kids to expend their remaining energy on.
On the way out we finally caught Mikey Mouse himself for a photo opportunity. He was the one big name character missing from her autograph book so getting him was a nice way to end the vacation. Now it's the packing and... the bill. :(
